With Christmas looming and Black Friday sales well underway, now is the perfect time to buy your significant other a gift to remember. Contrary to what Mariah Carey may say, I'm sure your girlfriend wants more than just you for Christmas, so I've compiled a list of fun, unique and thoughtful gifts for your special someone this festive season. Just don't buy her another Pandora charm, I beg you.
I know that times are hard at the moment so I've tried to keep these suggestions as budget friendly as possible, because as lovely as a week's stay in the Maldives might be, it definitely isn't the kindest on your bank balance.
* DISCLAIMER. For each of the gift ideas linked below, there are cheaper or more expensive versions somewhere on the internet depending on how much you want to spend. These are just ones that I like.*
1. Wearable Blanket
While slightly on the pricier side, this gift will undoubtedly go down a treat if your girlfriend is a creature of comfort or a Netflix binge QUEEN. Sure, there are cheaper versions of this but for ultimate warmth and cosiness, this is the one. With temperatures dropping and nights in on the sofa becoming the new normal, the Snuggy truly is the perfect gift. They even have ones for guys too if you find yourself getting jealous!
If you want to go all out with this gift then it's definitely worth checking out the Oodie. It's more pricey but comes with much more variety when it comes to prints (see below)!
2. Luxury Hot Chocolate Selection
£12.80 (20% off)
Us girls may disagree on some things, but chocolate is something that truly unites us. For an inexpensive gift that is sure to go down a treat with your girlfriend, I recommend this delectable hot chocolate selection from Whittards. It may be basic and probably not a stand-alone gift but is most definitely budget-friendly and also makes for a perfect stocking filler. Picture the scene...you're all snuggled up on the sofa ready to watch yet another Hallmark Christmas movie, candles are gently flickering in the background and you're stuffed full of mince pies. The only thing missing? A warm cup of hot cocoa...voilà.
3. Candle Collection
It's the same every year. We spend so long getting excited for Christmas, then before we know it, it's over. However, it doesn't have to be this way with these wonderfully festive candles. Three wonderful scents of Christmas Spice, White Patchouli and Mistletoe, and Nutcracker make up this beautiful selection which is sure to put a smile on the face of anyone who walks into your living room. Long live Christmas!
4. 5 Senses Gift
For a truly thought out gift this Christmas, I recommend the 5 senses present. It doesn't take a genius to work out what this is but I'll explain anyway; 5 gifts, each for 1 of the 5 senses.
The beauty of this gift is that it can be as lavish or as inexpensive as you like. Could be a massage, some perfume or even something as simple as her favourite snacks. If you're stuck, there are no shortage of websites with plenty of lovely ideas to take inspiration from. A true crowd-pleaser this one.
5. Fitness Wear
Whether your girlfriend is a seasoned gym-goer, a fitness newbie, or looking for an excuse to start working out, anything from TALA is a must-have gift for her this Christmas. At the forefront of sustainable style, your girlfriend will not only look and feel amazing in these affordable and extremely flattering pieces, but she'll also be doing her bit for the planet. There's a reason everything sells out so quickly, it's so damn good! *Adds everything to Christmas list*.
6. Gin-related Gifts
Forgive me Father, for I have ginned. If like me, your girlfriend is an avid gin lover then these are the gifts for her. Now I couldn't pick just one gin related gift so here are two for you to choose from! The first is the Sipsmith Mini Gin Trio featuring the classic dry gin, the lemon drizzle gin and the zesty orange gin. As an experienced gin drinker, I can vouch for how good all of these are but if you're worried about flavoured gins not tickling her fancy then you really can't go wrong with a simple bottle of the Sipsmith Dry Gin. And what good is a beautiful gin without an equally beautiful glass to drink it from?! Cue gift idea no.2; the Waterfall gin glass. Available in both pink and mint colours, this exquisitely crafted gin glass is the perfect addition to any gin lovers cupboard. Some Fever Tree Tonic wouldn't go amiss here either!
7. Pyjama Set
£20 (Currently 30% off entire site)
£22.40 (30% off)
This might be a safe option but definitely one that you can guarantee she'll get a lot of wear out of, not to mention they are perfect for those colder nights. You can find cute pyjama sets on just about any women's clothing website but the two linked above are my suggestions. Super affordable and super cute, win-win!
8. An Experience Day
Now I know this gift may not be viable right away but it's definitely something you can both look forward to together! Everything from afternoon tea, to spa days and even indoor sky diving, is available through Virgin Experience Days so you can guarantee you'll find something for her! The best part is, these are mostly shared experiences so it's kind of a present for you too if you think about it...what better way to make long-lasting memories together!
9. At Home Spa Day Kit
If you can't be bothered to wait for all this Covid-19 stuff to blow over and want to give your girlfriend a much-deserved spa day straight away, then this is for you. You can buy pre-made pamper kits for under £30 such as the above from Supply Drop or Amazon. Alternatively, you can use these as inspiration and simply pop to your local boots and go full DIY. For bonus points, light some incense, pour a glass of her favourite wine and treat her to a massage as well.
So, there you have it. That's my recommended list of fail-safe presents to get your girlfriend this Christmas, although I'm sure they'll love anything you get them. Stay tuned for my top 9 presents to get your boyfriend this year. Over and out!
